The location is absolutely perfect, nestled in the peaceful countryside. It's a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. The rooms are comfortable and the showers are plentiful. The staff is friendly and always willing to help. The common areas are cozy and filled with interesting oddities.
The hostel may not suit those who prefer the amenities and luxury of a hotel.

the homely hostel exceeded expectations with its welcoming atmosphere, character reflecting musical interest, and family-like ambiance. The country location was peaceful and the barn's surroundings, with green fields and majestic dry-stone walls, were a world away from city life. The fully equipped kitchen and well-stocked breakfast selection made traveling with young children much easier. Highly recommended.
One thing was missing or different.

Our stay at Slemish Barn was delightful! As a family traveling for leisure, we were welcomed by the friendly and helpful staff. The check-in and out process was quick and easy, and we appreciated the option to pay in both euros and pounds. The unique design of the living room and kitchen gave the hostel a charming countryside feel. The bunk beds were perfect for our children, and we all had a great night's sleep. The value for money was excellent, and the hostel's location near the Giant's Causeway, accessible via the scenic Coastal route, was a definite highlight. The quiet atmosphere was incredibly enjoyable, making our stay even more relaxing. Although breakfast wasn't cooked for us, having access to the fully equipped kitchen allowed us to prepare our own meals, and there were shops nearby in case we needed any supplies. we couldn't have asked for a better experience!
Can't recommend highly enough this hotel.

The staff at this hostel were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. They were always available to provide advice on places to visit and were very welcoming when we arrived late. One of the best aspects of our stay was the cozy common room. It had a homely feel and was a great place to relax. We also loved that there was coffee, milk, and toast provided in the morning, making it convenient for a quick breakfast before heading out for the day.
One of the things we didn't like was the bright green light from the fire alarm in our room. It was quite strong and made it difficult for us to sleep comfortably.

This charming hostel offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with a cozy and well-equipped barn conversion. The friendly staff, including Michael and Maebh, provide excellent service from start to finish, making you feel right at home. The location is perfect for exploring Northern Ireland, with breathtaking views of Slemish. The fully equipped kitchen and comfortable common areas are perfect for relaxing after a long day of sightseeing. Plus, the hostel is pet-friendly, making it a great choice for traveling with furry friends.
One small drawback mentioned by a guest was the presence of a few flies due to the proximity of farm animals.

Loved the traditional fiddling school next door, packed lunches on request, and the free use of the office, laundry room and kitchen for staff. Such a cozy hostel with great facilities!
Oh, I adored the excessive flies and squeaky beds. Absolutely delightful.

Check-in was quick and easy, with a friendly staff member who took the time to explain everything. The spacious room comfortably accommodated our family of five, with two toilets and showers. The kitchen had all the facilities we needed for a great breakfast, including a variety of bread, cereal, and tea.
The wifi connection in our room was poor, but it didn't bother us since we didn't rely on it.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Convenient location for Belfast to Giant's Causeway route. A hidden gem for a countryside getaway.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The hostel was also located in a beautiful natural setting, which provided a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Additionally, the fully equipped kitchen was a convenient feature that allowed us to prepare our own meals.
One downside of our stay was that the location was a bit far from larger villages, requiring a bit of a drive to reach them. Furthermore, the hostel did not offer much in terms of breakfast options, as we were only provided with tea and toast or cereal in the morning.
